The Police Contact Center (PKC) in the Stockholm region has the mission to be the first step in an effective and quality-assured criminal investigation process focusing on crime resolution and victim support. The Police Contact Center is currently tasked with receiving reports, tips, and providing information to the public. Additionally, the Police Contact Center is an important part of the initial investigation process and in the police's work to solve crimes. As an employee of Sweden's largest authority, you are encouraged to take personal responsibility and develop yourself. We are therefore looking for you who want to be a first-line investigator and are interested in shift work.

The Police Contact Center, together with several other sections (such as traffic police, maritime police, police dogs, mounted police, and special forces), is located within the operational unit and contributes to the common mission of a safer society.

PKC is located in the following areas in the region: Gotland, Norrtälje, Sollentuna, and Farsta including Ornö.

Job Responsibilities

As a handling operator, titled PKC operator, you are the public's first contact with the Police through the national phone number 114 14. The job responsibilities include taking initial investigative measures in incoming cases. This may involve interviewing victims and witnesses, ensuring that surveillance footage is saved, and conducting data searches. You will handle various types of cases; from simpler police reports to more serious crimes. As a PKC operator, you will prepare cases with information that will then be presented to an investigation leader. In addition, you will also work with:

· Establishing police reports and conducting victim and witness interviews

· Establishing restraining order applications and conducting interviews in these cases

· Providing citizens with a quick and easy way to report crimes

· Handling incoming tips and preparing intelligence leads based on them

The work is conducted around the clock every day of the year, which means that night shifts are part of the operation.

Qualifications

This is an opportunity for you who have:

· Relevant work experience in service (for example, customer service, social services, tourism, restaurant, care, retail, community guidance)

· A completed high school diploma

· At least 2 years of work experience that the employer deems relevant

· Very good knowledge of Swedish and English in both spoken and written form

· Excellent computer skills

· Mandatory training starting 2026-09-07, starting at another time is not possible

We consider it an advantage if you also have:

· Experience in social work where you have met or handled people in vulnerable situations (for example, through work experience or engagement in voluntary or association activities)

· Experience in case handling or administration (for example, within government, municipal, or other public operations, or equivalent organization)

· Very good knowledge of non-Nordic languages in addition to English, as deemed relevant by the employer

· Current experience of shift work or night shifts

Personal qualities

To succeed in the role of PKC operator, it is essential that you have a well-developed ability to collaborate and that you act supportively and helpfully towards both colleagues and supervisors. Since the work involves daily contact with citizens who have been victims of crime and are in need of help and support, a pronounced service mindset and professional demeanor are prerequisites for success in the role.

You are expected to be confident in leading and structuring conversations effectively to ensure that relevant information is gathered. The work requires independence, responsibility, and the ability to act within given frameworks under the guidance of an investigation leader.

The position of PKC operator is scheduled according to a three-shift system, which means working during the day, evening, and night, on both weekdays and weekends and holidays. Your main working tools are the phone and computer, which means that accuracy, concentration, and endurance are of great importance. To thrive and perform well in the role, you need to maintain motivation and engagement even in tasks that may feel monotonous or patience-testing.

We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. As part of the selection process, work samples and tests will be used.
